This four-hour workshop is for medical deans, department heads, medical researchers, physicians, and other medical professionals in conjunction with their assigned development professionals. This workshop provides an understanding of philanthropy and the donor development process. The workshop explores commonly-held myths about development and creates an understanding of the contributing roles of organizational personnel in soliciting funds.

What is truly compelling about your own vision for your work and why should any donor stretch to support it?
How Do We Recognize a Potential Major Donor?
Is it just about money, or is there a better way to prioritize donors?
How Do We Build Commitment?
Is fundraising “friendraising,” or is it about connecting at a deeper level?
What to Keep in Mind When Asking for Gifts
Where does "the ask" fit in the process and how does one prepare for an effective ask?
What Makes Donors Give Again?
Are seven “thank yous” the right answer, or are there better ways to create a fully gratifying gifting experience?
Action Planning
Each participant identifies ways in which he/she can contribute to the development work of the organization.
