This workshop introduces nurses and other care providers to how donors view development, philanthropy, and the engagement process, while also exploring concepts about grateful patients and their families. Participants learn the 5R Process for professional and ethical referrals of patients and family members who have indicated interest in supporting the organization’s work.

An Overview of Healthcare Philanthropy
Provides participants an overview of terms and concepts that apply to healthcare philanthropy, including grateful patients and families concepts.
The Process of Making a Philanthropic Referral
Introduces participants to the 5R Process for Making Philanthropic Referrals, outlines cues and clues that nurses may hear from patients, and provides an opportunity to practice making referrals.
