Designed for deans, faculty, and other academic and organizational leaders, this workshop is a hard-working session that utilizes inspiration and tools for defining vision and gives participants the opportunity to practice presenting their vision story to a small group of “donors” and to a larger group as a podium presentation.
Syllabus
Pre-work
A review of core concepts from Insight Into Philanthropy and an opportunity for participants to collect their thoughts about the current vision for their own school, college, unit, or department.
Introduction
This is a brief overview of the workshop, including a review of the important role of leadership in the donor development process and an introduction to the process for a foundational meeting among the donor prospect, the academic leader, and the development professional.
Section I: Envisioning
Academic leaders work with their development professionals to finalize their vision stories in accordance with the Vision Worksheet.
Section 2: Articulation
Participants review concepts for presenting a compelling vision story, then prepare for their presentations. The first presentation is to small table groups and second presentation is to the larger workshop (podium presentation).
