This four-hour or six-hour workshop (with optional section) for development support staff provides a greater understanding of the concepts that make up the development process. Participants will discover key elements of identifying their role in development, understanding donor motivations, and exploring how to better support the development process. The workshop also provides an understanding of development vocabulary and creates the foundation necessary to support a cohesive culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
Syllabus
Introduction
Gives participants a brief overview of the workshop, including the research and concepts that serve as its foundation, as well as the process of donor development and the roles of different team members.
Understanding Donor Motivation
This section gives participants an opportunity to view the development process from the donors’ perspectives.
Becoming a High-Performance Team Member
Participants learn guidelines and skills for building trust-based relationships with both internal and external customers.
Creating a Gratifying Gifting Experience
Methods for ensuring donors feel appreciated and valued and an understanding of how to set the stage for future gifts offers participants new insights.
ProScan Dynametric Profile (optional section)
A personal exploration of different personality styles and techniques for communicating with donors and colleagues more effectively.
