Joe K. Golding

Joe is Founder and Senior Partner of Advancement Resources and also led the team that conducted the initial research that forms the basis of Advancement Resources’ work in major-gift fundraising. That research continues as Advancement Resources continually adapts its curriculum to changes in the economic environment and the field of philanthropy.

In addition to his ongoing leadership in research, over 40,000 academic and healthcare leaders, clinicians, and development professionals have participated in Joe's highly interactive workshops and seminars throughout the United States, in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 

Joe has been honored to serve as a keynote and plenary speaker for many philanthropic conferences. He also provides individualized outcome-based coaching for academic and healthcare leaders.

Joe is passionate about helping organizations build comprehensive programs that engage all associates in driving meaningful, transformational philanthropy.

Joe and his wife, Cindy, are entrepreneurs who have founded a number of successful companies. They are also committed philanthropists with wide interests and philanthropic experiences, including being million-dollar donors, board members, board chairs, and key volunteers for campaigns.

Darrell has extensive experience helping organizations develop both comprehensive and strategic training programs to significantly raise levels of philanthropic support. Darrell provides workshops to academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and other non-profit groups, as well as specialized outcome-based coaching/consulting to academic leaders.

Darrell is passionate about helping both academic leaders and physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals understand and achieve their full potential as partners in development.

Darrell and his wife, Nelda, are personally committed to a number of philanthropic interests, including healthcare, social missions, and other programs that serve the interests of those in need. Darrell and Nelda each serve as foundation board members for organizations dedicated to building into the leadership and scholastic skills of young men and women. 



Mauria Brough

Mauria leads the team that has designed Advancement Resources’ curriculum of more than 80 highly impactful workshops for academic institutions, medical organizations, and other non-profit groups. In addition, Mauria has personally delivered hundreds of workshops, for development professionals, communications professionals, support associates, and academic leaders.

She also has extensive experience with highly successful campaign launches and closings, as well as strategic development communications.

With over 20 years of experience in communications and instructional design, Mauria has developed numerous programs for organizations across the nation. She has applied her eclectic background in education, theatre, dance, and writing to create and produce compelling, story-driven events, videos, and workshops.

Among his institutional clients are the University of Washington, Sutter Health, United Way Worldwide, Oregon State University, MedStar Health, California State University System, Northwestern University, and University of British Columbia.

Ben has been honored to introduce Advancement Resources’ breakthrough concepts at a number of national associations and healthcare systems, including Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Minnesota Planned Giving Association, Northwest Development Officers Association, Adventist Health Systems, and CHRISTUS Health Network.



Melissa Mensen

In addition to her client relationships, Melissa collaborates with several strategic partners as a way to increase the reach and impact of our services.

She also leads Advancement Resources’ client services team whose primary focus is ensuring each client has a gratifying experience throughout their engagement with us.

Mark McCampbell

Mark leads appraisal, assessment, analysis and planning processes as a strategic partner to development teams, executives and health systems. Mark is committed to this comprehensive approach, identifying strengths and opportunities, assets and effectiveness in teams and helping to create near-term change that produces long-term transformation.

With more than 36 years of experience in a wide range of development leadership positions, Mark has worked with leaders in health care, higher education, arts, human services, and faith-based institutions to help organizations prepare and take steps toward the next level of growth. He is active in various fundraising professional organizations, community non-profits and boards, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

Mark’s mission is “to identify needs and resources and put them together so that people are helped and communities are improved.”



Mark W. Jones

Mark partners with colleges, universities, and other organizations to develop strategic professional education plans that both enhance fundraiser performance and optimize the institutions’ philanthropic potential. His work supports executive and academic leaders, key faculty, advancement professionals, talent managers, board members, and volunteers.

Mark brings to Advancement Resources three decades of experience in higher education, including 21 years as a chief advancement officer. He is passionate about utilizing his fundraising and management expertise to help the institutions he serves build and retain effective fundraising teams, which will in turn drive meaningful donor-centric philanthropy.



Gail D. Rudolph

Gail partners with healthcare organizations in building a unique approach to referral-based medical philanthropy. She works with clients throughout all phases of the process, from assessment and analysis to design and implementation, helping institutions achieve their philanthropic potential.

Gail has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare philanthropy, serving in leadership positions across a spectrum of organizations, including community hospitals, academic medical institutions, and large systems. She has extensive experience bringing her expertise to advisory roles within the profession and providing professional coaching.

Gail has a deep belief in the impact that philanthropy can have in the healthcare arena, which compels her to share and mentor from her experience.



Lauri Lumm

A seasoned facilitator, Lauri has extensive experience working with participants of diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about helping development professionals and other associates broaden their perspectives and hone their skills in order to achieve breakthrough success in fundraising.

With a background in coaching and performance management, Lauri has a proven track record in facilitating team-building, conflict management, leadership, strategic planning and other professional development courses to academic institutions and non-profit organizations.

Lauri holds a master’s degree in adult learning and organizational performance.

James is a seasoned fundraising professional with extensive experience in healthcare, higher education, environmental, and cultural organizations. At Advancement Resources he focuses on the UK and Canada to partner with organizations to optimize their philanthropic potential. He is pleased to serve development professionals, key executives, academic leaders, clinicians, board members, and volunteers.

Prior to joining Advancement Resources, James planned and implemented capital campaigns and fundraising programs in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe for universities, healthcare organizations, NGOs, and specialized institutions.

As an Executive Performance Partner, Robin provides one on one coaching to individuals who are looking to extend their learning experiences beyond the Advancement Resources training experience. Through a heavily personalized approach, Robin works directly with individuals to explore, define, and resolve the challenging issues faced by development leaders in today’s environment.

Robin has more than 36 years of diverse experience in fundraising and development management in higher education, healthcare, and non-profit organizations. Throughout her career she has managed all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, development services, and information technology. She is a recognized leader in coaching, strategic planning, recruiting, hiring and training staff; as well as campaign management.

Robin is passionate about helping development professionals apply best practices and strategic concepts, processes, and tools to achieve breakthrough performance in donor development.



Cindy Golding

In her role as Executive Vice President of Advancement Resources, Cindy works to find, recruit, and retain the best team members in the field.  She also works with the senior facilitation team to deliver workshops in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 

Cindy is passionate about the role board members can play in effectively engaging new and potential donors in the mission of the organizations that she works with.  She serves on several boards, including the National Federation of Independent Business, Linn County Farm Bureau Board, and is Chair of Heartland Youth for Christ Board of Directors.

Cindy is a community leader, a business leader, an advocate for children and teens, a mother and grandmother, and one of the most influential women in Eastern Iowa. In her limited free time she also brings fresh produce to market as the owner and founder of Sweet Maple Farms, in rural Cedar Rapids.



Megan Wolter

Megan directs planning and implementation of Advancement Resources’ public workshops. She has served more than 1,400 participants, with the goal of ensuring each one has a highly rewarding experience.

Megan’s goal is to provide the unique Advancement Resources experience to participants who choose our public workshops as their preferred vehicle for development training, as well as to organizations that regularly send their new associates to public workshops.



Jackie Tallerico

Jackie works closely with facilitators and other associates to coordinate strategic partnerships and client engagement. She acts as a primary liaison between Advancement Resources and many of its clients.

With more than 10 years of experience in client service, Jackie’s goal is to ensure that each organization’s experience with us exceeds their expectations.



Lauren Schrock

Lauren manages all logistical details to ensure a simple and effective delivery process for the organizations we serve. Additionally, she coordinates details with a variety of conference hotels so we’re able to offer public workshops every 6-8 weeks.

Lauren is a graduate of the University of Iowa and enjoys serving academic and healthcare organizations around the world.

Dan Geiser

With an extensive career in professional communication strategy, design and application, Dan works with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and other non-profit organizations to develop training solutions targeted to achieve and exceed desired outcomes.

Dan is passionate about applying innovative instructional design methodologies to Advancement Resources research discoveries. His goal is to help workshop participants achieve breakthrough thinking and develop skills that drive greater, more meaningful philanthropy to advance the important work of their organizations.



Lauren Laur

Lauren manages the instructional and graphic design projects for Advancement Resources’ curriculum of academic, medical, and non-profit philanthropy workshops.

Lauren utilizes broad experience in instructional design, writing/editing, project management, and research to coordinate outcome-driven instructional materials for the more than 300 workshops and presentations Advancement Resources delivers each year. She holds a Master of Arts in Literary and Textual Analysis with a certificate in Technical Communication.



Sheryl Payton

Sheryl works with various Advancement Resources teams to convert research and content into a visual approach for instructional and promotional materials. She is also an e-Learning developer who helps design and create modules for our computer- and video-based library.

Sheryl has more than three decades of professional graphic design experience in web/interactive, print, brand development, presentations, and project management.



Caleb Dutzer

As a recent college graduate, Caleb is eager to utilize his education and breadth of volunteer experience to support the mission of Advancement Resources in furthering philanthropy throughout the world.



Aliya Musselman

Aliya works closely with various teams at Advancement Resources to transform ideas, content, and concepts into instructional and promotional materials. Additionally, she designs the look and feel of many aspects of the Advancement Resources website.

She is passionate about engaging learners through printed and digital graphic design and user interface design.

Aliya has broad experience with graphic design, digital media, printing, and website design.

Ven has extensive experience in research, market analysis, international business, new business development, and marketing. He is passionate about enabling philanthropic organizations to optimize their success through approaches that are grounded in the best possible qualitative and quantitative research.



Ann Franzenburg

Ann draws on her extensive background as an educator and writer to help the various teams at Advancement Resources create innovative, engaging content for our comprehensive array of services. Additionally, Ann strives to ensure workshop participants have a positive and meaningful experience.

She is passionate about using the power of writing and storytelling to help organizations achieve philanthropic success. Ann holds a Master’s of Fine Arts in Nonfiction Writing from The University of Iowa.

Clay has directed, created and produced more than 1,000 high-impact videos and dozens of highly successful fundraising events, donor walls, stewardship vehicles and other communication tools for academic institutions and healthcare organizations throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Utilizing more than four decades of experience in video and multimedia production, communication and music, Clay has a high degree of expertise in using the power of video storytelling to inspire deep donor commitment.

Among the institutions Clay is privileged to work with are Brigham and Women’s Hospital, The University of Nebraska, The University of Iowa, University of British Columbia, and University of Sydney.



Lynnea Golding

Lynnea has managed projects ranging from Advancement Resources’ public workshops and customized e-Learning curriculum to gala video production and major university campaign launch events. With a process-driven background in civil engineering, Lynnea uses her expertise to drive high-quality deliverables for our clients.

Lynnea also serves as managing partner at Mindseye Project Partners. Mindseye provides donor engagement services for healthcare and academic institutions, with primary focus on video storytelling. Mindseye's interview and video production teams capture and produce donor stories, vision stories, and impact stories that are shared through numerous channels, including recognition events, donor walls, social media, and other avenues.



Morgan Hoss

Her role enables Crystal to utilize her accounting expertise to fulfill her passion of making the world a better place through philanthropy. When she is not busy balancing debits and credits, she supports early childhood education, hunger relief, and social welfare for veterans.

Shannon coordinates travel and logistics for Advancement Resources’ educational and consultative experiences. She also acts as primary contact for internal IT demands and utilizes her broad experience and helpful, problem-solving personality to support all team members in a variety of capacities.
